Farmers Field School on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM)
As part of the ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices, a Farmers Field School (FFS) was successfully organized in Surajpura village under the SAFBIN Project. The programme focused on enhancing farmers' knowledge and practical skills on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) during the critical paddy transplantation period.
The session provided hands-on guidance on the preparation and application of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) solutions, emphasizing the balanced use of organic and locally available nutrient sources to improve soil fertility, enhance crop health, and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. Resource persons demonstrated the correct methods of preparing and applying the INM solution, enabling farmers to adopt the practices effectively in their own fields.
Participants actively engaged in discussions and practical demonstrations, sharing their experiences and clarifying field-level challenges related to paddy cultivation. The interactive learning approach strengthened farmers' understanding of sustainable nutrient management practices and highlighted their role in improving productivity while conserving soil health and the environment.
The Farmers Field School concluded with a commitment from participating farmers to adopt the recommended INM practices during the current paddy season and to disseminate the knowledge within their communities. Such initiatives continue to strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers and contribute to the promotion of sustainable agriculture and climate resilience in the project area.
