          MPSSS broadly focus on the aspects of land rights, land development, ensuring food security sustainable agricultural practices. Significant emphasis is also being given on linking the communities with government departments. MPSSS ensures more people’s participation, involvement, contribution and improves chances of long term sustainability through traditional agricultural practices. At present, the focus is given on reducing malnutrition and hunger alleviation through sustainable agricultural practices. Keeping the following in view, communities efforts are on the right track.  

The principle of health - Organic Agriculture sustains and enhance the health of soil, plant, animal, human and planet as one and indivisible.

The principle of ecology - Organic Agriculture is based on living ecological systems and cycles, work with them, emulate them and help sustain them.

The principle of fairness - Organic Agriculture builds on relationships that ensure fairness with regard to the common environment and life opportunities. Fairness is characterized by equity, respect, justice and stewardship of the shared world, both among people and in their relations to other living beings.

The principle of care - Organic Agriculture is managed in a precautionary and responsible manner to protect the health and well-being of current and future generations and the environment.

The 9 DSSSs partners in Madhya Pradesh focus on the development of sustainable agricultural practices. Various  measures like preparation of Vermi Compost, NADEP Compost, Bhu-NADEP, Pit Compost, Vermi Tonic and Organic Pest repellents are prepared and used in their fields. Now, the people are happy that they are slowly going back to their traditional agricultural practices with the introduction of traditional seed varieties with the effort of MPSSS facilitation.


Achievements are,

 Ø  185 Varieties of Traditional seeds collected and 9753 farmers are cultivating

Ø  5418 people participated in 149 Seed Fairs

Ø  29363 Families consume Forest produce and 6862451 INR earned by 9821 people

Ø  8989 farmers practice Organic Agriculture in 10334.5 Ha. of Land

Ø  20089 families have Kitchen Garden (123402 Members)

Ø  3371 farmers earned 2767822 INR from Vegetable Cultivation

Ø  Mixed Farming – 84

Ø  Traditional Farmers – 53

Ø  No. of Families using traditional diets in their food – 1801
